During the month of January classes at FES read books by Kate DiCamillo as part of a school-wide author study. Kate is the author of many books for children including The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane, the Mercy Watson series, Bink & Gollie, and Because of Winn-Dixie. She won the Newbery medal for The Tale of Despereaux and Flora & Ulysses.
Ms. Hughes’ Kindergarten class celebrated Kate DiCamillo by reading and writing about Mercy Watson, eating buttered toast (Mercy’s favorite food), and creating special Mercy Watson headbands.
