November has been a busy month for Skype author events at FES.
Mrs. Merrifield’s 4th grade class had the opportunity to Skype with the wonderful Anastasia Suen from her home in Texas. Anastasia has written 154 books including six titles from the Jake Maddox series. If you’re not familiar with the Jake Maddox series, you should stop by the library and check one out. All of the books have a sports theme and incorporate lessons for elementary school readers.
Mrs. Merrifield’s students are so enthralled with the series, a group of students have formed a Jake Maddox book club!
Mr. Rosenblum’s fifth grade students visited with Stephen McCranie via Skype recently. Stephen lives in New Mexico and is the author of the Mal and Chad graphic novel series. http://malandchad.com/
Stephen showed students how he writes and illustrates his books, and he gave students some drawing tips. He even created an original piece of art based on what the class requested.
Augusta Scattergood, author of Glory Be, will Skype with the Mock Newbery Book Club on November 28th. Book club members need to see Mrs. Potter to sign up in advance. http://fesmocknewbery.blogspot.com/
